Week-End Warp: 2/13/05

I've decided to begin doing a Week-End Wrap (which I'm terming a Warp, as that's about how I feel) that combines a variety of topics into one post. So, here it is, my first Week-End Warp:
  • On BushCo's Iraq Invasion we have this from Democracy Now and professor of linguistics Noam Chomsky:
"The first thing they'll do is reestablish relations with Iran...The next thing that might happen is that a Shiite-controlled, more or less democratic Iraq might stir up feelings in the Shiite areas of Saudi Arabia, which happen to be right nearby and which happen to be where all the oil is. So you might find what in Washington must be the ultimate nightmare-a Shiite region which controls most of the world's oil and is independent."
Chomsky goes on to discuss how given the administration's penchant for war all the scenarios are catastrophic (nuclear) and goes so far to say that it may be China that intervenes to create peace.
  • Dem News: Dean is the new DNC chair! The media leeches are trying to fake you out with their glee over his appointment, suggesting that crushing the DNC is only a scream away. Yet on the red underbelly there are those who think Dean is a threat (hellyea). Harry Reid is turning out to have the spine we were hoping for and this Monday Senator Boxer will get 5,000 red roses for having twice the spine we were hoping for!
