Station Carrying Phoenix Air America Affiliate Sold--Good--We Can Do Better!!

Yes, it is true. The station carrying Air America in Phoenix (KXXT) has been sold--to a Christian broadcast channel. Which isn't' too weird since the station was already owned by a Christian corporation, just not broadcasting Christian programming (because the market is saturated).

Yes KXXT was operating in the black (and had been). Yes, the station's ratings were (are) first and second in the local market. So wha' happened? Nothing that has to do with KXXT's profitability. It's just business. The owners got a cool double-digit in the millions, supposedly twice it's value.

How do I know this? I have friends on the inside.

Now, the question is--what are those of us who love this programming going to do to keep the AA affiliate and local talent in Phoenix and on the air? Further, doesn't this go to liberal programming and voices en toto? I mean why just AA? What about Democracy Now? We need better than KXXT. We need a station that doesn't tolerate our voice--we need owners that celebrate our voice. Here is an opportunity to find a better station--and we can do that by demonstrating our interest (which of course translates into advertising dollars) and by showing up and participating in the cause.
